Domestic Violence and Health Care
Countywide Listening Initiative

The DV and Health Care Leadership Council in Los Angeles (DVHCLA) convened a countywide listening initiative across the 5 supervisorial districts of Los Angeles County from June 2023 through September 2024. These listening sessions aimed to engage key community organizations, health organizations, County level partners, and people with lived experience in a meaningful dialogue around:

-
the importance and impact of work at the intersection of domestic violence (DV) and health care,
-
concrete strategies to move the needle on systems change in the County, and
-
supporting partnership development within the districts.
Purpose + Goals:
-
Learn from health care agencies, DV programs, CBO's and people with lived experience in the district
-
Discuss the impact of DV and health care partnerships on improving survivor access to care and support;
-
Identify concrete strategies, gaps and barriers to inform systems change across Los Angeles County.
A synthesis of the listening initiative was developed in May 2025, and presented at the Los Angeles County Commission for Women Domestic Violence Briefing on May 29, 2025.
